Get Schooled: Music Business Courses for Free

When I first heard of Coursera, it was from a supervisor at an old job. Similar to present circumstances, I’d found myself in the midst of the back-to-school rush and was pining for the return of the days where I could sit back and watch someone present ‘something new’ to me for my scrutiny and/or delight, every day.

“If you want to go back to school, why don’t you just sign up for Coursera?” she said.

“What is that?” I’d asked.

“It’s a site with free courses -but they’re by legitimate schools.”

Legitimate, I thought.

Little did I know that I’d find such gems. And in the spirit of promoting continued learning I’m going to pass one along to you:

Did you know that Berklee College of Music has free courses listed on Coursera? Yes – THE Berklee. The one that created John Mayer and Ken Yates (yeah Yates!).

Check it out.

Sign up for courses on:

I should be sure to add the disclaimer – for the most part the cost is absolutely zero – but the only catch is that you don’t get a certificate for completing them unless you pay about $50 per course… but on the whole, that’s still better than a kick in the pants.

Happy Learnings
